Send Money to Family and Friends Abroad

Send money to family members, friends, and people you know in the United Kingdom and European countries, and pay for the transfer in toman.

With Persia Money’s personal money transfer service, you can submit a payment request through the application by entering the recipient’s name and bank account details.

For transfers to European accounts, you will usually need the account holder’s name and IBAN. For transfers to UK accounts, you will usually need the account holder’s name, sort code, and account number.

After completing Level 2 identity verification, entering the recipient’s details, and paying for the order in toman, the foreign-currency equivalent will be paid into the recipient’s bank account from within the relevant destination country or region.

How Does Sending Money Abroad Work?

You pay the required amount to Persia Money in toman, and the foreign-currency equivalent is paid into the recipient’s bank account through Persia Money’s payment and settlement network in the destination country.

These transfers use an IVTS model.

Instead of sending the same funds directly to the destination country, the payment is settled in toman locally and the foreign-currency payment is made using available funds within the destination country or region.

As a result, the recipient will usually receive a domestic or regional bank transfer. The same amount is not transferred directly out of the country for that individual transaction.

Availability depends on:

  • Destination country
  • Currency
  • Transfer amount
  • Your relationship with the recipient
  • Reason for the payment
  • The outcome of security and compliance checks

What Is IVTS?

IVTS stands for Informal Value Transfer System.

It is a value-transfer method in which funds are settled between countries or regions without the same amount and currency necessarily moving directly from the origin country to the destination for each transaction.

Under Persia Money’s service model:

  • The user pays for the order locally in toman.
  • Persia Money reviews and registers the request.
  • The foreign-currency equivalent is paid using funds available in the destination country or region.
  • The recipient receives the money directly into their bank account.
  • Settlement between the different parts of Persia Money’s payment network is completed separately.

All orders are subject to identity verification, security controls, source-of-funds checks, and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements.

Level 2 Identity Verification

Level 2 identity verification is mandatory for using the service. It may include:

  • Recording your personal details
  • Verifying your mobile telephone number
  • Matching your information against your national identity number
  • Providing an image of a valid identity document
  • Providing a passport
  • Completing a liveness check
  • Matching your face against your identity document
  • Sanctions and security screening
  • Providing employment or income information
  • Providing source-of-funds evidence where required

Additional information or documents may be requested depending on:

  • Transfer amount
  • Number of transfers
  • Destination country
  • Relationship with the recipient
  • Risk-review outcome

Who Can Receive the Money?

This service is intended for lawful personal transfers to people you know, including:

  • Your own personal account
  • Parents, spouse, or children
  • Brothers and sisters
  • Other family members
  • Friends
  • People you know
  • A housemate or person sharing personal expenses with you
  • Someone who paid an expense on your behalf

You must accurately state your relationship with the recipient and the reason for the transfer.

Transfers to unknown persons, intermediary accounts, unverifiable sellers, or recipients whose relationship with you is unclear may not be accepted.

Which Transfer Reasons Are Acceptable?

Subject to the circumstances of the order, acceptable reasons may include:

  • Family living-cost support
  • Financial support for relatives
  • Rent or shared household expenses
  • Personal purchases
  • Repayment of a personal loan or expense
  • Sending a financial gift
  • Student living or education support
  • Medical expenses or essential needs
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses
  • Other lawful personal payments

Persia Money may request supporting evidence or further explanation for certain transfers.

Exchange Rate and Transfer Charges

Before the order is finalised, the application will display:

  • The foreign-currency amount the recipient is expected to receive
  • Exchange rate
  • Persia Money service fee
  • Any expected banking-network fee
  • Final amount payable in toman

The quoted exchange rate is valid for a limited period and may be updated where payment is delayed or market conditions change.

Where the recipient’s bank or an intermediary bank deducts a charge, the final amount received may be lower than the amount sent. Where Persia Money is aware of such a fee, it will be disclosed before the order is confirmed.

How Long Does the Transfer Take?

Transfer time depends on:

  • Destination country
  • Currency
  • Recipient’s bank
  • Order amount
  • Required checks

Most transfers are completed within three working days or sooner. Some transfers may take longer because of:

  • Public or bank holidays
  • Orders submitted outside working hours
  • Recipient-information checks
  • Requests for additional documents
  • Banking or compliance controls
  • Incorrect account information
  • Transaction security checks
  • Delays at the recipient’s bank

The estimated processing time will be displayed before the order is finalised or within the order status.

Account Holder Name Checks

The account holder’s name must match the bank details supplied. Where available, the account details may be checked before the transfer. However, automatic account-name verification is not available for every bank or country.

The user is responsible for entering the correct:

  • Account holder’s name
  • IBAN
  • Sort code
  • Account number

Incorrect information may cause a delay, rejection, or payment to the wrong account.

Unacceptable Transfers

Persia Money only processes lawful, personal, and explainable transfers. The following requests will not be accepted:

  • Transfers to unknown persons
  • Transfers to accounts not belonging to the declared recipient
  • Payment for unlawful goods or services
  • Gambling or betting-related payments
  • Payments connected with drugs, weapons, or prohibited activities
  • Transfers intended to evade sanctions or legal restrictions
  • Use of another person’s identity or bank account without authorisation
  • Misrepresentation of the relationship with the recipient
  • Concealing the true purpose of the payment
  • Deliberately splitting transactions to avoid restrictions or checks
  • Use of the service for money laundering, fraud, or movement of funds belonging to others
  • Transfers to intermediary or rented accounts
  • Payments to exchange dealers, unknown traders, or unverified businesses

Where suspicious activity is identified, the order may be suspended or rejected and the user may be asked to provide additional documents and explanations.

Where fraud, deception, document forgery, or deliberate misuse is confirmed, Persia Money may permanently restrict access to its services and provide relevant information to banks, payment providers, or legal authorities where permitted by applicable law.
