Send Money from Europe to Iran

Support family and people you know in Iran

Use the Persia Money app to send money from supported European countries to eligible family members, relatives and other people you know in Iran.

You pay in euros or another supported currency. Once the required checks are complete, the equivalent amount is paid in toman to the recipient's verified Iranian bank account. The recipient does not need a Persia Money account.

The service is intended for lawful personal payments, including:

  • support for parents and other family members
  • everyday living costs, rent and household bills
  • support for a spouse, partner or children
  • student living costs
  • medical and healthcare expenses
  • personal cash gifts
  • reimbursement of personal expenses
  • urgent or unexpected family needs

How to send money to Iran

1. Create your Persia Money account and complete identity verification.

2. Select Send money to Iran in the app.

3. Enter how much you want to send or how much the recipient should receive.

4. Review the live exchange rate, fee, expected payout and estimated delivery time.

5. Enter the recipient's full name and Iranian IBAN, known as a Sheba number.

6. Allow the app to validate the destination account and account holder details.

7. State your relationship to the recipient and the purpose of the payment.

8. Review the transfer details and pay the final amount.

9. Once all checks are complete, the toman amount is paid to the recipient's bank account.

You can follow the status of the transfer in your Persia Money account.

Destination account checks

Before you confirm a transfer, the Persia Money app checks the recipient's Sheba number to reduce errors and help prevent fraud and scams.

The checks include:

  • validating the format and integrity of the Sheba number
  • identifying the destination bank
  • confirming that Persia Money supports that bank
  • retrieving the registered account holder's name
  • comparing the account details with the recipient information you entered

If the Sheba number is invalid, the bank is not supported or the account holder details do not match, the app will notify you before payment. These controls help reduce the risk of sending money to the wrong account or to an account supplied as part of a scam. You must still check all recipient details carefully.

Who can receive money

You may send money to someone with whom you have a genuine and explainable relationship, such as:

  • a parent, spouse, partner or child
  • a sibling or another relative
  • a friend or another person you know
  • someone who paid an eligible personal expense on your behalf

Transfers to unknown people, intermediary accounts or recipients whose relationship to you cannot be explained may not be accepted.

Eligible reasons for sending money

Family support

You can make one-off or regular payments towards ordinary family expenses in Iran, including food, housing, rent, utilities and support for parents, a spouse or children.

Student and medical expenses

You may send money towards a student's accommodation, transport, books and everyday costs. Lawful medical expenses such as hospital treatment, medicine, rehabilitation and essential care can also be considered. Where a direct institutional payment is more appropriate, Persia Money may direct you to the relevant service.

Gifts and reimbursements

Personal gifts for birthdays, weddings and family occasions are permitted where the recipient and purpose are genuine. You may also reimburse a family member or friend who paid an eligible personal expense on your behalf.

Exchange rate fees and delivery time

Persia Money charges a fixed fee of EUR 2.50 for sending toman to Iran. The minimum transfer amount is the equivalent of EUR 50.

Before you pay, the app shows the live exchange rate, service fee, total amount due, expected amount in toman and estimated delivery time. The final rate is confirmed when you approve and pay for the transfer.

How the recipient is paid

Persia Money uses an informal value transfer system, or IVTS. The money you pay in Europe is not sent as a direct international bank transfer to Iran. Instead, once payment and checks are complete, the equivalent amount is paid from funds available in Iran to the recipient's verified bank account through the domestic banking network.

Transfer limits and verification

There is no single limit that applies to every customer. The amount available to you depends on your verification level, transfer history, source of funds, relationship to the recipient, payment purpose and the outcome of transaction checks.

You must hold a verified Persia Money account. A successful payment does not by itself guarantee completion: every transfer remains subject to applicable security, compliance and transaction checks, and additional information may be requested.

Frequently asked questions
